What's wrong with Secretary Kim

Image
This is a typical romantic K-drama where there is one hero, one heroine, some childhood connection which was lost in the course of time and then finally re-union. Even though the story is typical, the drama is quite entertaining. It manages to keep viewers glued to the screen the entire time.  Lee Young-joon is a narcissist and is successful and accomplished Vice Chairman of a major corporation and Kim Mi-so is a very efficient secretary to Lee Young-joon. One fine day she declared that she wants to resign from her job. She was too busy with her job which did not leave her any time for pursuing her own interests or for dating. She wanted to explore herself and wanted to date and get married.  Initially, Young-joon fails to understand the reasons behind her resignation and impact of her leaving his life but decides to follow advice given by his best friend Park Yoo-sik. He decided to leave no stone unturned to stop secretary Kim from quitting. During this process, Y...

My Demon

Image
Koreans seem to be quite obsessed with superhuman power based fantasies. Romance between humans and imaginary characters like Gumiho, Goblin or alien are not unfamiliar in the K-drama world. So as the name suggests, in this K-drama, there is romance between a demon and a human. We have the demon Jeong Gu-won as a handsome swoonworthy hero, Do Do-Hee, who is named as the sole heiress of Mirae Group as the female lead. Then there are executive assistants to create a comedy, Jin Ga-yeong and Joo Seok-hoon to create a love triangle, family members of Joo Cheon-seok,  and the Boss or God who decides the fate of humans and of course, a very cunning and wicked villain. The imaginary character of the demon has been elaborately described in the drama. The demons were originally created by the God to protect humans. But now their duty has been restricted to granting needy and greedy humans their wish and dream life for 10 years in exchange for their soul. At the end of 10 years t...

Hometown Cha Cha Cha is one of the earliest K-drama I have watched and it still ramains my favourite. It's a light romantic story of a Seoul based dentist and Gongjin (seaside small town) handyman who is keen on helping his neighbours.  Yoon Hye-jin is a successful dentist in Seoul and loves buying expensive branded stuff like shoes, bags. She is a perfectionist. She refuses to bow to pressure from her seniors of recommending expensive treatment and earning more money. She chooses to resign from her job instead and decided to take a trip to seaside town Gongjin where she had happy memories with her late mother. Hong Du-sik or simply Captain Hong is a jack of all trades in Gongjin and is always keen on helping his neighbours. He is courier man, he is an electrician, he is plumber, so on ans so forth. He has obtained all sorts of licenses.  At crossroads, Hye-jin met Captain Hong and decided to open a dental clinic in Gongjin on the spur of the moment. She manag...
