My Demon

Koreans seem to be quite obsessed with superhuman power based fantasies. Romance between humans and imaginary characters like Gumiho, Goblin or alien are not unfamiliar in the K-drama world. So as the name suggests, in this K-drama, there is romance between a demon and a human.

We have the demon Jeong Gu-won as a handsome swoonworthy hero, Do Do-Hee, who is named as the sole heiress of Mirae Group as the female lead. Then there are executive assistants to create a comedy, Jin Ga-yeong and Joo Seok-hoon to create a love triangle, family members of Joo Cheon-seok,  and the Boss or God who decides the fate of humans and of course, a very cunning and wicked villain.

The imaginary character of the demon has been elaborately described in the drama. The demons were originally created by the God to protect humans. But now their duty has been restricted to granting needy and greedy humans their wish and dream life for 10 years in exchange for their soul. At the end of 10 years the soul would be sent to hell. Of course the demons have a very strict code of conduct prescribing do's and don'ts and all these secrets are sealed in a green book. The demon gets all his powers from a cross shaped tattoo inscribed on the inner side of his wrist.

Do Do-Hee was orphaned at the age of 10 and was raised by Mirae Group Chairwoman Joo Seok-hoon. She is already leading Mirae F&B and is a very able woman. She has been named as the successor to the Mirae Group with a condition that she should marry within 1 year. Joo Seok-hoon's children are of course not happy with the news and are looking for opportunities to harm Do Do-Hee.

During all this chaos, while saving Do Do-Hee, the tatoo from Gu-won's hand gets transferred to Do Do-Hee and he is forced to team up with her. Now that they had to team up, the enmity changes into a cordial relationship, then into camaraderie, and lastly into love. Love rivals attempt to break this pair.

While love is in the air, the villain is scheming against Do Do-Hee. There are attempts to murder Do-Hee. The Demon's green book goes missing. There are attempts to finish the demon.

Since the drama is about super human powers, there are past lives, there is a wheel of fate, there is story of how Gu-Won turned into a demon. The Demon also has a boss. Do-Hee and Gu-Won's fates are entagled since past lives.  The director has managed to maintain suspense till the end. The story is quite complicated. The drama is fast paced, eventful and an action packed thriller. Though there are scary moments, there are funny moments too. It's a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Who is the true villain in the drama? What is the relationship between Gu-Won and Do-Hee? How their fates are entagled through past lives? Whether the demon could be finished? Will Do-Hee and Gu-Won get a chance to be together?  Can God really control the fate of humans in this world? Can humans change their fate?
If you want to find answers to these questions this drama is a must watch!
