DP (Season 1& 2)
DP means Deserter Pursuit. An-Jun-ho joins Korean service and faces abuse from his seniors. Even though he is a regular soldier, due to his observant nature he is assigned to DP duty. Many times soldiers desert army and run away. DP are sent to trace these people and bring them back. Along such deserters' pursuit, the arduous life in military comes to light.
Jun-ho's first assignment itself doesn't go as planned and his Senior faces action. Later he is paired with Corporal Han Ho-yeol and makes a record by catching the maximum number of deseters. Each of the episodes narrates a different story about background of a soldier running away from army and Jun-ho and Han-yeol's journey of pursuit. All along it depicts the painful realities of abuse of power, ragging, humiliation, and provocation to the extent of commiting crimes or suicide.
This drama has 2 seasons of 6 episodes each. First season mostly deals with stories around lower level soldiers leaving the army whereas the second season masters at senior levels like internal politics in the army, turning blind eye towards human rights of lower levels, decisions taken considering personal stakes, abusive use of power, suppressing facts to maintain better facade etc .
If you are not interested in routine dramas or if you are averse to watching romantic stories then this no-nonsense drama is for you. Both seasons are quite intense. By now if you have made up your mind to watch this drama then brace yourselves for excessive use of abusive language, a lot of violence and gruesome scenes!!
