Resident Playbook

As the name suggests this show offers a glimpse into resident doctors' lives. This story revolves around 4 new recruits i.e. resident doctors and how they juggle their way around their professional lives as well as personal lives.

Oh I-yeong, Kim Sa-bi, Um Jae-il and Pyo Nam-kyung have joined Yulje Medical Center OB-GYN department as first year resident doctors (typically called as R1s). All of them have different personalities but have a common goal of becoming exceptional doctors. Oh I-yeong is uninterested, aloof and to some extent absent minded girl whereas Kim Sa-bi is a nerd who is a book worm but lacks social skills. Um Jae-il who was once part of Hi Boys Band is playful and social but lacks confidence. Dr Ku Do-won is a fourth year resident doctor (R4) who is amiable and understanding.  But all seniors are not the same.

The life of doctors is very hard. They don't have fixed working hours, no fixed meal times, they don't get adequate rest and sleep, if there is any emergency then they have to leave everything and rush. 

The series focuses on how the R1 navigate their way through very demanding duties in the hospital, emergencies, vagaries of seniors, crazy patients, worried relatives, studies, seminars, and last but not the least highs and lows in their person lives. 

It shows R1s' journey of growth, learning of skills (medical as well as social), shaping of their personalities, assuming responsibilities and attaining maturity during the process. 

If you are tired of typical romantic dramas then this drama can be a good break.
