The First Frost

Many thought that this C-Drama is a sequel to First Love. But this is not. Even though this is highschool romance and names of few of the characters are same, this not a sequel to First Love.

Along with romance, mental healing is another prominent theme of this drama. The drama focuses mainly on romance of 2 pairs Wen Yifan & Sang Yan and Zhong Siquiao & Su Haoan and healing of Wen Yifan and Su family.

Wen Yifan is a reporter by profession and had a disturbed childhood. After her father's death during her highschool years, her mother married another man who never liked her and as a result she was neglected by everyone. Even her sexual harassment was ignored by her uncle's family and her own mother. She was considered as a burden by everyone. She also faced sexual harassment at workplace and rented accommodation. As a result she developed Post Trauma Stress Disorder (PTSD) and started sleep walking. The only bright spot in her life was Sang Yan. Sang Yan was in the same class and he fell in live with Wen Yifan at the first sight.

Sang Yan's love for her remained unaffected even when she disappeared without any explanation in Yihe University and stayed away from him for 6 years. He always kept a watchful eye on her silently. When she came back to Nanwu, first they pretended ignorance but later were forced to share an accommodation. Rest is quite predictable.

Su Haoan is brought up by his grand parents.  His parents and brother had died in a car accident. He considered himself guilty. In all these years they could not bring themselves to talk about this tragic incident. When Zhong Siqiao met his family, she helped the family to heal from the tragic past.

In the end, Wen Yifan manages to punish people who had wronged to her in the past and savers ties with her selfish mother. With the support of Sang Yan and his unwavering commitment and love, Yifan finally heals from PTSD. With the help of Zhong Siquiao, Su family also finds a closure and the drama ends on a positive note.

This is a slow paced drama which focuses on the healing of many characters. Each episode starts with some incident which took place during Wen Yifan and Sang Yan's school days, which acts as a bridge to the present. The secocnd part of the episodes continues with the present story and finally ends with some anecdote.  The format is good at it gives a context to present story. If you don't mind the slow pace then you can go for it!!
